Dr. Ben Carson: The Man

Ben Carson is an ordinary, down to earth man, who has lived an extraordinary life. He is now running for president, and has written One Nation, which is a window to his thinking.

Ben Carson is an amazing story. He grew up poor, without a father, and with anger issues. Yet his mother forced him to read and to exercise his brain. He admits that he was a poor student early on, however he started to enjoy learning and thrived. He went on to become a brain surgeon and was the first man to separate Siamese twins.

He is a self-made man, and because of this, many naively think he isn’t “black” enough. On the contrary, he is American enough. He has a strong faith in God and is unashamed of it. Calmly, he consistently preaches a message of unity, love and American pride.

If we are to survive, we need to have a president who is proud to be an American, and proud to serve the American people. We need someone who will calmly unite all the factions that have been created in America in the last eight years. There are plenty of candidates who fit this bill, and Carson is one of them.

Dr. Ben Carson strikes a classic pose.
Dr. Ben Carson strikes a classic pose.

In his book, One Nation, Dr. Ben Carson draws from experiences in his life that formulated his views. He also gives solutions to problems, such as the tax system, health care, and social issues. He stays consistently conservative and explains that a smaller government is better for everyone.

In the first GOP debate, one thing that stuck out to me was his support of building up the military so that our defense is strong. This is an important issue for those of us who want to be able to negotiate without throwing our military in harm’s way. A nation cannot negotiate from a position of weakness, we must negotiate from a position of strength.

Ben Carson is a great candidate for president, as are many of the other candidates. We need to make sure that we pick a winner, someone who loves America, and is not ashamed of our past. We need a man who will protect religious liberty along with civil liberty. Ben Carson is one great option.

Common Sense Ignored

Too often we have ignored wise counsel in this society. By now it may be too late to fully appreciate these men while they are alive, however, a young group of men is rising up. They are unafraid and tell the truth. American culture needs this to balance out the rhetoric spewed by the left about victimhood and race.

Dr. Thomas Sowell and Dr. Walter E. Williams are well-known in conservative circles, yet it seems the world ignores everything they say. Even the conservatives in the past, like George Bush and others, seem to ignore the economic warnings they give out. One explanation of this is that good economics often is seen as bad politics, while bad economics may help in the short run, but only can get you elected. Bad economics cannot sustain success.

These men consistently expose the racism in, whether inadvertent or purposeful, in the “progressive” policies of the left. In actuality, these policies can be more accurately called “regressive”, as they only hamper the success of the individual and grow the government. The liberal media loves to write them off, and promote Keynesian economics, which encourages more spending.

They also show how race has been mishandled in America, however folks would rather listen to cultural Marxists and socialist idealism than actual realism. The realism of these men is as follows, that culture matters, and affects results. Thomas Sowell wrote about this extensively in his book Black Rednecks and White Liberals.

This happens to be one of my favorite books on culture in America. Sowell breaks down the history of culture in America and other areas in the world. In so doing, he demonstrates over and over that culture matters more than race. When a culture is bad, the people suffer, and when it encourages hard work and thrift, the people thrive.

A simple concept really, yet so hard for the masses to accept. The main issue is responsibility to create a winning culture, and in an American society where everyone blames everyone else, that does not fly. Saying that the effects of the minimum wage hurt black people is sacrilege. Explaining that a welfare state is never good for anyone is taboo.

Common sense is ignored. Yet as these men age, a new group of young people are rising up. Men like Jason Riley, Allen West, Lenny McAllister and others are speaking out. Others are in the legislature, like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Tim Scott, and Will Hurd. The idea that freedom is what is best for all people is common sense, yet it is all too often ignored.

With these men, and the young libertarian movement, there is hope that all common sense is not lost. There is hope that conversations about issues that may offend, but ultimately lead to solutions, will occur. Let us not be discouraged by what the media shows, but be encouraged but what is actually out in the world. There is hope, but the agents of that hope need to succeed for it to be realized.

War on Police

The police in America are under attack. Instead of simply condemning the bad officers, we are now collectively condemning the whole profession. Irresponsible leaders have called for the killing of police officers. This action holds in contempt not only police officers, but all of the law-abiding citizens.

When officers are threatened with their lives in this way, it hinders them from performing their jobs to the best of their ability. In turn, this leaves law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals. the idea that all police officers are terrible humans simply because of a few bad officers, is just as idiotic as the idea that all black people are thugs. There needs to be a condemnation of lawless people who murder police officers in cold blood.

For the most part, if one is a law-abiding citizen, one will not have problems with officers. There are cases where this is not true, however, that is not the norm. The issue we have now in America is the idea that people can do whatever they want without consequences. That is wrongheaded thinking. Anarchy inevitably leads to tyranny.

The people of the United States of America need to stand up for police officers. We also need to stand up for just laws. America cannot afford to be destroyed from within by empty rhetoric and violent outbreaks. We, as a people, need to unite and stand for true justice. Murdering police officers is not justice.

The hatred perpetuated by certain groups of people should not be tolerated. Free speech should be allowed, but hate speech is not free for anyone. The hatred of police will not change laws. The killing of police will only incur worse laws. The men and women who think violence is the answer are wrong. Violence only hurts the cause unless it is in defense. These murders are not in defense, they are offensive, and thus they are unjust.

Americans should stand for truth and justice, and rise up together, and speak loudly about the issues. We need to speak louder than those who spew hate, and make love the lasting cry of our generation. We need to speak loudly about the evils of murder, and show with love that it is never the answer. Together we must save our nation from destroying itself. The division cannot be tolerated. It must be condemned.

Do Not Tell Me That I Am Incapable Because I Am Black

One pattern in politics in America that makes me the most angry is when so called “Liberals” tell me what I am and am not capable of doing. These fools blabber on and on about how as a black man, I am so terribly oppressed. They talk about police as if they are out to get me. They tend to assume that I am stupid and need government help.

Well, I’ll tell you what! The only help I need is from God, the only support I need is from friends and family. Family is the only place where socialism works. Bigger government telling me what to do will not work. There is a simple rule, if a man does not work, he does not eat. In the year of 2015, no college can legally discriminate on race, they discriminate in performance.

That is, unless you are a poor oppressed black soul who made stupid decisions in his life. Then you are accepted with far lower qualification standards than white people. However if we are Americans, should we not be judged the same as everyone else? Are we not capable of using our God-given brain power?

If a sports team enacted affirmative action for white people because “they aren’t athletic enough” people would say how ridiculous the idea is. Talent should be the measuring stick, nor skin color, right!? If a man cannot get into a certain college, he can go to a smaller college to prove himself.

Whatever happened to earning your stripes? Now we just pat everyone on the back no matter how hard they tried and give them a trophy. This also goes for the fools who think I cannot get a photo I. D. because I am black. What kind of stupidity is that!? No one has the right to tell me what I can and cannot achieve because of my skin color! I get to tell YOU what I can do. That is how a free society works.

Doctor King once quoted a poem that stated that the mind is the standard of the man. What do you do with your brain? How do you use it? Do you argue for division? Do you argue on behalf of all Americans!? “American am I, none can deny, he who oppresses me, him I defy!” Those are the words of Langston Hughes, and the only ones attempting to oppress me are the liberals who are stuck repeating that “black people can’t”. I defy them!

I hope that before I die I can tell these Regressive Democrats that are clinging to Confederate rhetoric about how inferior black folks are that they are wrong, and point to how I lived my life. Or simply look at Sowell, Dr. Carson, an Allen West. They are a slap in the face to this DNC nonsense. Now we just need to realize our potential as AMERICANS.

The Beauty of Thinking Differently

Among the American people there is much diversity of thought. In the past, Americans were able to hold political discussions, and progress would be made. Many Americans have strong disagreements, yet we seem to take offense at every disagreement we have. Names are called, racial slurs hurled out, and no progress is made.

This is incredibly prevalent in the Black-American community. The only individuals that are allowed to speak out without fear of insult are liberals. Seemingly, one can destroy his own community with bad policy, but if he is a liberal, he is celebrated. This is a problem that is attempting to spread itself like a virus across America.

We as Americans have become soft in the mind. We have no skin at all, just bones. We hate to admit when we are wrong, and we refuse to agree to disagree. The time has come for us to stop worrying about who gets offended and start worrying about our country. If we, as freedom loving Americans, lose the ability to think differently, our country will be lost.

Many brilliant men and women with brilliant ideas have been silenced or ignored in urban communities. These individuals have real solutions and ideas to problems, however they are hated because they make no excuses. The schools have indoctrinated children into perpetual victim hood. Now many young people use their circumstances as a crutch or an excuse for failure.

Failure is presented as inevitable, a condition that can only be cured by the government. One is free to think that way, however, as soon as an individual decides to think that he can achieve greatness without government help and does it; he is labeled a sellout. I do not know of any other race that labels success stories as sell outs, nor have I ever seen such glorification of victim hood.

This problem has spread from Black men and women to a small but vocal group of white women. They call themselves “feminists”, they claim to be strong and independent, and yet they blame everything on white men. If one dares to disagree with them, he or she is labeled a misogynist. This is what we call censorship, where a small group controls every aspect of communication.

These socialists do this so that they can condition people into believing them without fact checking. Both groups lie to get the population in their favor. They do not relish the beauty of thinking differently. They do not wish to deal with facts, they simply ride on emotions and gut feelings.

America must wake up before all intelligent thought and dissent is wiped out. Thinking the same is more robotic than human, and our nation needs to embrace the challenge of dialogue. Once dialogue is destroyed, all discussion will be nebulous diatribe, a worthless breathing of hot air.

I love America and would hate for this to happen. I hope that in the near future more diverse thought will be welcomed in society. Freedom must prevail in America or else we will have nowhere to go. Stay vigilant and speak the your mind without fear, and do not get offended at disagreement and discussion.

Uncontrolled Anger

In Baltimore a man’s neck was allegedly snapped. He was a person of color. Naturally the citizens wanted to protest this atrocity. However a group of fools decided to ruin what started as a peaceful protest by starting fights and smashing windows of cars and businesses. They even fought baseball fans who were at bars by the Orioles’ stadium.

Now all the protestors are lumped in with the rioters and blacks are being characterized as animals who can’t protest peacefully. It is upsetting when a group of fools with no self control destroys something that could have been great. It is enraging when black folks on Twitter dismiss the actions of those fools and say it was an emotional reaction.

Of course it was an emotional reaction! That’s the problem! They reacted emotionally when they should have reacted with their heads. To all my non-black friends, black people as a whole are not this stupid and do not all riot and destroy cars. Many of us simply want to peacefully protest.

However, the few can ruin the many, as displayed in these past few months. We have no one to blame but ourselves. We vote for our own slavery to the government, we refuse to parent our children, and then we complain that white people have it so good. Maybe if children were taught self control, and maybe if we didn’t vote for our own slavery, maybe if we didn’t drop out of high school, maybe then we could get ahead.

Whenever I say I’m not weak, or I’m not a victim, it is a fellow black man or woman who tears me down and calls me names for daring to love freedom. They only times I have ever been called a coon was by black women in Twitter. They wouldn’t dare say it to my face. This is our problem. Whenever someone decides they want to succeed in a different way and does not think robotically democratic, he becomes an Uncle Tom for daring to disagree.

This is stupidity, an Uncle Tom is someone who actively tries to destroy the black community. If one believes in personal responsibility and freedom from the government, he is not an Uncle Tom. If one condemns foolish rioting, he is not an Uncle Tom. If one preaches self control, he is not an Uncle Tom. If one dares to disagree, he is not an Uncle Tom. By no means! Rather, he is a free thinking man who is not bound by society’s thoughts.

In conclusion, friends, control your anger, control your joy. Control yourself and you will be respected. Uncontrolled anger and rioting is not becoming of any man. When there is something to protest, protest as men and women, not little boys and girls. Maturity is respected, and expected.

Why Black Americans Identify as Black

Many conservatives on Twitter seem to get upset whenever a Black man or woman proudly declares the obvious. It seems as though they think that we must forget our color completely to become fully American. However I’ve never seen anyone get angry at my grandfather for being proud of his Irish heritage. Nor has anyone chided my grandmother for proudly declaring her Italian ancestry. However, when an American Black celebrates his blackness, there seems to be a problem.

Most American Blacks who celebrate their blackness are not doing so because they think black is better than white. Furthermore when black Americans celebrate, they are celebrating their history and culture. They cannot celebrate being Jamaican, Nigerian or any other nationality of origin because they are American, and they know not which exact tribes or countries they came from.

However, the American Black is fully American, yet peculiarly different, as are Irish Americans, Italian Americans and others of European ancestry. Those of European ancestry can celebrate the culture they came from. They have festivals and local holidays. However, the American Black has none. There are African Fests, but the American black is hardly African and many times will not connect with that festival. Some do, and others are immigrants from Africa.

There is no problem with the American Black celebrating Africa, however, how should he celebrate if he wants to celebrate others like himself? Is he not allowed to proclaim his pride in a past of struggle, failure, triumph and glory? If he forgets his color completely, he will not remember who he is, or where his ancestors came from, or what great black Americans have done. He will only know bits and pieces of his history.

American Blacks can be black and still be fully American, just as an Irish American or Italian American can be. He is no less or no more American than any other ethnic American. There should be nothing wrong with a black man being confident as black and American. Simply look at the way he has fought in wars for America, and fear not, for the American Black is fully American.
